Telefónica


Telefónica, S.A., (BMAD: TEF, BM&F Bovespa: TEFC11, BVL: TEF, Euronext: TEF, NYSE: TEF, LSE: TDE, Merval: TEF, FWB: TEF, TYO: 9481) is a Spanish telecommunication company. Operating globally, it is one of the largest fixed-line and mobile telecommunications companies in the world: 3rd in terms of number of clients (with the acquisition of O2 plc., Movistar and Manx Telecom) only behind China Mobile and Vodafone, and in the top five in market value. They were behind China Mobile, AT&T, and Vodafone in November 2007.

Vodafone


Vodafone is a mobile network operator with its headquarters in Newbury, Berkshire, England, UK. It is the largest mobile telecommunications network company in the world by turnover and has a market value of about £75 billion (August 2008). Vodafone currently has operations in 25 countries and partner networks in a further 42 countries.
The name Vodafone comes from Voice data fone, chosen by the company to "reflect the provision of voice and data services over mobile phones."
As of 2006 Vodafone had an estimated 260 million customers in 25 markets across 5 continents. On this measure, it is the second largest mobile telecom group in the world behind China Mobile.

América Móvil


América Móvil (NYSE: AMX, BMV: AMX, NASDAQ: AMOV) is a holding company forming the third largest mobile network operator in terms of equity subscribers, the largest corporation in Latin America, and a Fortune 500 company. A venture of Carlos Slim Helú, América Móvil provides services to over 182 million wireless subscribers in the Americas, primarily in Latin America and the Caribbean. It was ranked the number 1 Information Technology company in 2005 by the Business Week magazine.

T-Mobile


T-Mobile is a mobile network operator headquartered in Bonn, Germany. It is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and belongs to the FreeMove Business alliance.
T-Mobile is a group of mobile phone corporate subsidiaries (all under the ownership of Deutsche Telekom) that operate GSM and UMTS networks in Europe and the United States. The "T" stands for "Telekom." T-Mobile also has financial stakes in mobile operators in Central and Eastern Europe. Globally, T-Mobile has 128.3 million subscribers, making it the world's seventh largest mobile phone service provider by subscribers and the third largest multinational after the United Kingdom's Vodafone and Spain's Telefónica. T-Mobile USA is the fourth largest wireless telecommunications network in the U.S. market with 32.1 million customers after Verizon Wireless, AT&T Mobility, and Sprint Nextel.

Telecom Italia


Telecom Italia (BIT: TIT, NYSE: TI) is the largest Italian telephone company. Now a private company, it was founded in 1994 by the merger of several state-owned telecommunications companies, the most important of which was Società Italiana per L'Esercizio Telefonico p.A. (SIP), the monopoly telephone operator in Italy.
The company operates landline telephone services in Italy, GSM mobile phone services in Italy and Brazil under the name TIM, and DSL internet and telephony services under the brand Alice in Italy, Germany,[1] France, San Marino and the Netherlands. It also owns a stake in Telecom Argentina in Argentina. Its subsidiary Telecom Italia Media also controls three Italian TV networks: La7, MTV Italy, and QOOB.
On December 13, 2006, Telecom Italia suffered a widespread DNS outage. Newspapers including La Repubblica printed instructions on how users could switch their DNS service to OpenDNS to restore service.

Orascom Telecom Holding


Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. is the first multinational Egyptian corporation. It is one of the core Orascom Group companies, and considered among the largest and most diversified network operators in the Middle East, Africa, Europe. North America, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
OTH is considered among the largest and most diversified network operators in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, and has acquired in early 2008 a license to operate mobile services in North Korea. Orascom Telecom is a leading mobile telecommunications company operating in six emerging markets having a population under license of 430 million with an average penetration of mobile telephony across all markets of approximately 40%. OTH operates GSM networks in Algeria (Djezzy), Pakistan (Mobilink), Egypt (Mobinil), Tunisia (Tunisiana), Bangladesh (Banglalink) and Zimbabwe (Telecel Zimbabwe). OTH had exceeded 74 million subscribers as of March 2008.

MTN Group


MTN Group is a South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company, operating in many African and Middle Eastern countries.
MTN describes itself as "the leader in telecommunications in Africa and the Middle East" and as of early 2007 is active in 21 countries. (Since 2000, Africa has been the fastest growing mobile phone market in the world.)
MTN Group's President and CEO is Phuthuma Nhleko. The company sponsors the CAF Champions League football competition.

MTN acquired Investcom, thereby expanding to ten more countries, mainly under the Areeba and Spacetel brands.

WARID TELECOM


Warid Telecom International is an Abu Dhabi based mobile telecommunication firm providing telephony services in Bangladesh, Congo, Pakistan and Uganda. Warid is expected to launch in the Ivory Coast and Georgia soon. In December 2005, Warid Telecom International LLC obtained a 15 year GSM license to operate as the sixth mobile phone operator in Bangladesh for 50 million US dollars.

UFONE PAKISTAN


Ufone GSM is a Pakistani GSM cellular service provider. It is one of six GSM Mobile companies in Pakistan and is a subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company The company commenced its operations under the brand name of Ufone from Islamabad on January 29 2001. Ufone expanded its coverage and has added new cities and highways to its coverage network. After the privatization of PTCL, Ufone is now owned by Etisalat.

ZONG

China for the second time (first with investing in PakTel) will try to rock the telecom sector of Pakistan by introducing its cellular service named Zong, which offers the most popular and most subscribers in universe, (yes it is universe see their adverts). Although advert is good, unlike their full paged intro’s in leading newspapers like Jang and Dawn and even on TV channels, simply showing big claims.

MOBILINK GSM


Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited, better known as Mobilink GSM, is a telecommunication service provider in Pakistan. According to PTA statistics, Mobilink has 28.47 million customers by December 2008. Mobilink's Head office is located in Mobilink House, 1 A Kohistan Road, F-8 Markaz Islamabad.
Mobilink started operations in 1994 as the first GSM cellular Mobile service in Pakistan by MOTOROLA Inc.,[citation needed] later it was sold to Orascom, an Egypt-based multi-national company.
Mobilink is the largest cellular service provider in Pakistan. Mobilink's corporate postpaid package is sold under the brand name "Indigo" and prepaid by the name of "Jazz".
In addition to cellular service, the Orascomm group is diversifying its service portfolio by setting up new businesses and also expanding through acquisitions. Recently, they started offering DSL broadband through a wholly owned subsidiary, Link.Net. Company is in place for launch of wireless broadband service through WiMax based technology

TELENOR PAKISTAN

Telenor Pakistan is a Pakistani GSM cellular service provider, and is a subsidiary of Telenor, Norway. It has a subscriber base of 19.38 million as of December 2008.Telenor acquired the license for providing GSM services in Pakistan in April 2004, and had launched its services commercially in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi on 15 March 2005]], and on 23 March 2005, Telenor started its services in Lahore, Faisalabad and Hyderabad. Telenor has its Corporate headquarters in Islamabad, with regional offices in Karachi and Lahore. On January 28, 2005, Telenor established its first call centre in Lahore. Telenor is the 2nd largest network of Pakistan after Mobilink.
